Kiki Melendez is an actress, writer, producer, host and creator of Hot Tamales Live! - A talent showcase that celebrates diversity in America through performances by comediennes, sketch artists and dancers. Under Melendez's guidance, Hot Tamales Live had a sold out debut, appeared at the famous Hollywood Improv and for the past two years is enjoying a critically acclaimed run at the world-renowned Comedy Store. In New York City, Hot Tamales Live travels often for limited engagements at The Laugh Factory in Time Square and Comix Comedy Nightclub. On May 5th 2007 Hot Tamales Live, will be appearing at the Prestigious Bushnell Theaters in Hartford, Connecticut and The Palace Theater in Albany NY.

Melendez has been accepted to perform her hit show at the HBO COMEDY FESTIVAL. Hot Tamales Live! Has been chosen as the premiere show to perform at the HBO Comedy Festival at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on November 17. Eva Longoria will co-produce this show with Melendez.

Melendez has extensive theater background both as an actress and producer. She studied at Lee Strassberg Theater and Film institute and HB Studios in NYC. She went on to produce a groundbreaking theatrical presentation "Latin City" which was critically acclaimed in NYC. She was a member of City Garage in Santa Monica and many other theater groups here in LA.

Melendez has just written two plays "Chase Hope and Faith" and "Gina and Blair". She has also written two feature films "Exonerating Evidence" and recently completed the first draft of the "The Gloria Trevi Story". Melendez, recently Directed and Produced "Latina’s Don’t PMS" a critically acclaimed show from NYC.

Melendez has skillfully expanded widespread interest in Hot Tamales Live! including a distribution deal for the development of television, motion picture and pay-per-view adaptations; and will be releasing a series on DVD. She has already released a pay-per view by Universal Studios. Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria and actresses Loni Love of the new hit sitcom "Think and Thin" on NBC and Tess of NBC's Last Comic Standing are just a few of the stars in the video and DVD versions.

In addition to her work on Hot Tamales Live, Melendez owns a production company called Latin Hollywood Films. LHF owns approximately 10 projects which include Sitcoms, Reality shows, Children’s Shows and Feature Films.

Melendez was instrumental in fundraising and producing the first annual LA FEMME FILM FESTIVAL in 2005. She has also worked for "THE MANNY MOTA FOUNDATION", THE KATRINA VICTIMS FUND.

Melendez is an Award Winner. She was recently named American Latino Pioneer in Entertainment. She was the only female comedienne nominated for the first annual American Latino Awards. She received the Key to Harford, Connecticut by Mayor Perez making "Cinco De Mayo 2007" Kiki Melendez Day in Hartford. She was also given a Certificate of Appreciation by Mayor Villaraigosa in Los Angeles California. She received the prestigious "MAVERICK AWARD" By the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival in March 2007.

Kiki credits her sense of humor to her childhood. She spent her early years in New York City, watching mainstream televisions shows such as The Brady Bunch and Bewitched during the day and telenovelas in the evening. During her adolescence, Melendez's family moved to a predominately Jewish community in North Miami . She often jokes about her being the only kid required to go to school on Jewish holidays.

Melendez started her entertainment career with a bang. Her first job was as morning hosts for radio stations: La Nueva FM, 105.9 in New York and KRLA, Groove 103.1 in Los Angeles. In 1998, Melendez successfully transitioned from a career in radio to one in television with guest appearances on "The Tracy Ullman Show" on HBO, "The Steve Harvey Show" on the WB, "Strong Medicine" on Lifetime TV and many others.

She created the pilot called Salsa desde Hollywood. Galavision Network picked up the show, which Melendez hosted and produced, for 13 episodes. Melendez went on to have the No. 1 ranked entertainment show on the Galavision Network, Kiki desde Hollywood. It was America’s first bilingual variety show. Melendez has also held Hollywood reporting positions with the British Broadcasting Company and other international media outlets.

Melendez has also been successful in films with her starring roles in the award winning movie "Day Shift", National Lampoons "Cattle Call", and "Benny Bliss and The Disciples of Greatness".

Melendez’s favorite saying is, "Don’t be at the airport when your ship comes in." As a result of her entrepreneurial spirit, those around Melendez often joke that she’ll have a Lear jet waiting if she ever misses her ship.

Melendez insists her goal is to unite all races through entertainment and laughter!
